Ich habe ein Laptop der Marke emachines G725 (Acer). Dieses scheint wohl im allgemeinen ein Problem mit Linux zu haben Der Bootvorgang (CD,DVD, Netz) friert kurz nach Beginn ein. Da ich auf meinem PC SuSE installiert habe, hätt ich es auch gern auf dem Laptop. Hat da jemand gleiche Erfahrungen gemacht?
Du solltest vielleicht in einem OpenSuse-Forum (z.B. linux-club.de oder opensuse.org) noch einmal nachfragen. Eine Ferndiagnose dieses Bugs ist nicht möglich. Trotzdem wäre Dir die OpenSuse-Community bestimmt sehr dankbar, wenn Du diesen Bug möglichst umfassend in der Novell-Bugzilla melden würdest. Bestimmte Notebooks, auch Deines, sind aufgrund von Problemen im Zusammenspiel des Kernels mit bestimmten BIOS-Versionen für schwerste Ausfallerscheinungen unter Linux bekannt. So stehen die Suspendfunktionen Deines Laptops meist schon auf einer Blacklist, weil der Linuxkernel während dieses Vorganges ansonsten die Festplatte "verliert". Erschwerend kommt hinzu, dass Acer bei der Herausgabe neuer BIOS-Versionen anscheind keine Changelogs mitveröffentlicht, weshalb die Raterei immer wieder aufs Neue anfängt. I've also tried acpi.debug_level=0xf in hope to get some more information, but nothing changed.
I've also tried out kernel desktop or rt instead of default but it still hangs. Currently I've reinstalled kernel 2.6.31.12-0.2-default from openSUSE 11.2, which works fine with acpi.
BTW: Producing the attached acpi dump, acpidump reported: "Wrong checksum for DSDT!"
The bios is the newest version from acer.

Steps to Reproduce: 1. upgrade from openSUSE 11.2 to openSUSE 11.3 2. remove "quiet" from kernel parameters at grub/menu.lst 3. reboot Actual Results: hang

Sprich, jemand konnte Debian drauf installieren. Probiere doch mal aus "Testing" zu nehmen, nur um zu zeigen, dass Du keinen Hardware-Defekt hast.
