It's been considered, yes. For the time being it isn't beneficial to do that. It isn't ruled out.

Auf die Dauer wird man aber wohl kaum Lust haben, bei jeder neuen Veröffentlichung die Linuxscherben hinter "Apple-Cups" zusammenzukehren. Apple ist nun einmal kein Freund von Linux, dieses Vorgehen im Cups-Bereich könnte sich so zum Dauerproblem entwickeln.
