Ja, ich erinner mich auch an die Mail. Leute aendern Ihre Entscheidungen taeglich. Meine letzte Mail von ihm von vor 'ner Woche:

I have left Fedora which is a bit different.

Unity requires intervention from several people and I'm waiting for 6.4.0 which hopefully should build without breaking PointBarrier. Furthermore, this needs to be coordinated with Stephan Dirscher, so Xorg gets properly patched on openSUSE without crazy hacks on repository.
I'll check this in Prague with the people during OSC12.

I'm not really interested on the Desktop, my interest is in other places and related to Red Hat Enterprise Linux openSUSE is just a hobby, my real work is done for my employer, and I'm already fucked with 6000+ packages
So I don't really have much free time... The only thing I might do soon is CDE which I already use in HP/UX for a long time...
Ich nutz Fedora und openSUSE denn (leider) haben beide Features die das andere nicht bietet. Btw. unity unter Fedora laueft schon recht rund, bei openSUSE 12.2 bin ich jetzt am testen, etwartet bald eine LiveCD
