Die ganze Chose erinnert mich an einen alten Webbrowser namens Neoplanet (der allerdings auf Trident aufsetzte): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NeoPlanet
Auch Neoplanet besaß diese Client-Server-Struktur mit getrennten Aufgabenbereichen:
"The client part of NeoPlanet browser resided on the desktop as a small application environment (less than 2Mbs) providing: Internet navigation, an embedded customizable directory, a new level of personalization through customization of the GUI, integrated e-mail, chat and automatic updates. The customizability of the application created ability for distribution and content partners to brand the user’s online experience.
The server side of NeoPlanet’s product enabled collection of rich data about the end-user’s online experience, enabling timely and relevant targeted advertising."
IMO geht es auch bei diesem neuen Browser vornehmlich nur um eines, nämlich auf das, was Firmen wie Microsoft und Google so richtig scharf sind. Nur will die hinter dem neuen Browser stehende Firma Ihren eigenen Kuchen davon abhaben. Vielleicht klappt so eine Kampagne ja bei Windows10-Nutzern,die ohnhein nichts anderes gewohnt sind als Ihre Internetdatenspuren abzugeben.
Es ist rational, als Beweggründe für "Softwaregeschenke" von großen Konzernen keine philanthropischen Gedankengänge anzunehmen. Mit so etwas hat dieser Cliqz-Browser nichts zu tun.
