VMware(3) läuft flink wie ein Wiesel auf dem 2.4.18 und einem gcc-3.0.4 LFS. Im übrigen kann ich mich auch nicht an grössere Probs bei älteren Kernels erinnern. Es gab nur einmal ein Prob mit dem vmnet-treiber, wo aber ziemlich schnell ein patch vorhanden war.

Hat jemand behauptet, BitKeeper sei nicht besser als CVS? Meines Wissens hat das jedenfalls niemand gesagt.
Allerdings weiß ich, dass Alan Cox gesagt hat: "If Linus requires bitkeeper only then there will be two kernel trees. Linux ceases to be free software when you require nonfree software to contribute it."

Seit in Kernel 4.4.15 (?) das VM geändert wurde läuft VMware nicht mehr.
Gibt`s da Abhilfe (außer downgraden) ?

Bei mir läuft vmware
(allerdings Workstation 3.0) mit Kernel 2.4.17 ohne Probleme - und den 18er werd ich demnächst mal probieren)
3.0: Lauft sowieso mit den aktuellen 2.4'ern. Man muß nur die Module_License einfügen, damit der Kernel nicht "tainted" wird.
Wenn Du deine Email+Version postest, schicke ich Dir die Treiber-Sourcen
