Subpixel Rendering oder "Teile" davon scheinen noch immer von gültigen Softwarepatenten betroffen zu sein: Fedora deaktiviert jedenfalls anscheinend etwas, was in Ubuntu nicht deaktiviert wurde.
Im Text heißt es dazu u.a. mit Bezugnahme auf Fedora 15: "As you can see, Ubuntu is using RGB anti-aliasing with subpixel rendering (lcd-default means “subpixel (LCD)” method) and slight font hinting. (...) This shows that Fedora does use grayscale anti-aliasing, a stronger font hinting style and no subpixel rendering by default. This is the reason why the same fonts look different on Fedora and Ubuntu."
