3D-Awendung stürzen immer ab

Hallo liebe Gemeinde,

heute möchte ich mich mit folgendem Problem an euch wenden:

-->Mein System stürtz beim Verwenden von 3D (OpelGL) Anwendungen ständig ab. Das heißt es friert komplett ein und taut nur durch den Resetknopf wieder auf.

Hauptsächlich geht es dabei um Google Earth, einige Bildschirmschoner und ein paar 3D-Spiele wie GL-Tron oder Sauerbraten.
Die SPiele sind mir nicht so wichtig, aber ich würde gerne Programme wie GoogleEarth störungsfrei verwenden können.

--> Mein System:
--> Ist ein älteres: 2Ghz AMD Athlon XP, 786MB SD-RAM, ATI 9500 Graka, VIA KT400 Controller, Sound onboard (AC97), LAN onboard RTLChip. Habe kein WLan oder sonstige exotische Hardware installiert.

--> Software: Ubuntu 8.04 mit Gnome 2.22.3.
--> Compiz habe ich komplett deinstalliert (über die Paketeverwaltung) weil dieses zuviele Resourcen verspeist auf meinem Rechner und vor allem zu groben Darstellungsfehlern unter Google Earth und manchen Spielen geführt hat.

--> Unter Gnome habe ich die 3D-Beschleunigung über die Hardware-Teiber Systemverwaltung installiert. Einfach einen Haken für 3D aktiviert. Ich war schon begeistert wie einfach das ging. Ich vermisse allerdings ein Tool um die Details wie Farbtiefe, Auflösung, Hz-Frequenz und 3D-Details anzupassen.

Frage: Hätte ich besser den Treiber direkt von der ATI/AMD Seite installiert?
Verwendet Ubuntu einen alternativen Treiber (ich hab da was im Hinterkopf das es ein OpenSource Pendant zu den ATI-Treibern gibt.

Und wenn ich original ATI-Treiber installieren soll, was ich nicht hoffe, was mache ich dann immer falsch. Ich hab dies nämlich schon unter sämtlichen Distributionen versucht und nachdem die Installation erst sauber durchlief konnte ich nach einem Neustart X nicht mehr starten. Irgendwie konnte der Displayserver nicht mehr gestartet werden.


Okay, genug getextet! Ich hoffe ihr könnt mir weiterhelfen. Wenn ihr mehr Infos braucht, einfach sagen. Vielleicht ist es ja nur ein Kinderspiel.

Hi!

Mein früherer Desktop war vergleichbar (Athlon MP 2 GHz, 2 GB RAM, Radeon 9000). Lief absolut stabil mit dem freien Treiber.

Deine Probleme müssen also nicht unbedingt am Treiber liegen. Stürzt das System vielleicht generell ab, wenn man es hoch belastet? Ist das RAM fehlerhaft oder die Kühlung nicht ausreichend? Hast du alle Updates von Ubuntu eingespielt?

Gibt es Einträge im Kernel-Log von einem Crash? Falls ja, immer an derselben Stelle?

Hi,

ich muß dazu sagen ich kenne mich nicht so gut mit Linux aus. Also an der Kühlung oder ähnlich liegts nicht. Es stürtz immer erst ab wenn ihc Google Earth starte oder ein Spiel. Vorher hatte ich WinXP drauf, da lief alles "normal", soll heißen es stürzte nie etwas ab. Aber ich will keine Vergleiche, ich will Lösungen. :P Also ich denke entweder gibt es ein Treiberproblem (woher weiß ich welcher installiert ist?) oder generell an der 3D-Unterstützung.

Wenn Du mir verräts wo ich "den" Kernel-LOG finde kann ich ja mal posten was da so drinn steht.

Danke erstmal für die Antwort. Hoffe das wir das Problem lösen können. :P

Moin,

du meldest dich als root auf einer konsole an und machts folgende Eingabe:

tail -f /var/log/massages
Dann startest du google-earth nich durch einen Klick aufs Icon, sondern auch wiedrun aus einer Konsole.

In einen von beiden Fenstern kommen dann hoffentlich verwertbare Meldungen ;)

Danach habe ich keinen Promt mehr und alle Eingagen gehen scheinbar ins Leere. Ich muss das Konsolenfenster schließen und neu öffnen.

Wenn ich als root GE starte, startet es zwar von der Konsole, aber es werden keine Meldungen ausgegeben.

Hi!

Du hast den proprietären fglrx-Treiber laufen. Da wir den nicht debuggen können, müsstest du dich an AMD für Support wenden - was mir bei der alten Karte eher aussichtslos erscheint. Installiere den ATI-Treiber von X.org, dann funktioniert es. Kleinere Probleme kann man über Einstellungen in /etc/X11/xorg.conf beseitigen. Bei mir sieht das so aus:

Ja merci erst mal! Ich werd das bei gelegenheit probieren. Ich hab halt angst das es mir wieder alles zusammenhaut hier.

Ich weiss für den Fall das es passieren sollte auch nicht so recht mit dem Vi oder konsorten umzugehen.

Aber vielen DAnk trotzdem, wenns geklappt hat werd ich mich nochmal melden.

Hey leute,

unglaublich aber wahr. Ich weiß zwar nicht was genau passiert ist aber seit sich mein Ubuntu in letzter Zeit ein paar mal geupdated hat sind alle Probleme weg. Ich glaube an diesem Punkt sollte ich das System auf DVD konservieren.

Alle Spiele und 3D-Anwendungen laufen nun stabil.

Jetzt möchte ich sagen ist mein perösnliches Linuxsystem perfekt und der Umstieg absolut gelungen.

Sorry das ich nichts konkreteres sagen kann, aber es lag nicht am flgrx, den hat es nämlich erst heute geupdated, das System läuft aber schon seit ein paar Tagen stabil. Wahrscheinlich war es ein Kernelupdate oder ähnliches.
