N'Abend zusammen,
ich hab soeben den 2.4.8 bei mir installiert.
Jetzt habe ich nur das Problem, das der USB-Manager von SuSE nicht mehr läuft, da dieser die Kernel-Unterstützung für "USB Support" --> "UHCI (Intel PIIX4, VIA, ...) support" als Modul benötigt. Und diese Unterstützung seit Kernel 2.4.8 bei USB Unterstützung automatisch fest in den Kernel einkompiliert wird.
Weiß jemand wie ich das Ding trotzdem als Modul kompilieren kann?

Kernel 2.4.8 sagst du ? Wenn ich mir den Hilfetext in der Configure.help so anschaue sagt die mir aber dass man das auch als Modul bauen kann ?!
Demnach sollte es genügen in /usr/src/linux/.config den Parameter für CONFIG_USB_UHCI auf "Build as module" zu setzen: CONFIG_USB_UHCI=m

das stimmt. es ist immer noch als modul kompilierbar (habe es grade überprüft)
wahrscheinlich hast du beim make menuconfig (xconfig, config - wie auch immer) was falsch gemacht.

Ja, ihr habt recht.
Bei mir fehlte der Standard-UHCI-Treiber nur in "menuconfig". Durch manuelles editieren der .config konnte ich es doch noch als Modul kompilieren.
