MySQL fehler beim Starten...

Hallo zusammnen,
als Linux newbie hab ich die Mysql datenbank (Suse 9.1) installiert bekomme aber beim Aufruf den Fehler: "cannot connect through socket /tmp/mysql/my.sql " ode so ähnlich. hab zwar im manual nachgelesen...habe aber nichts gefunden ---aber dann bin halt auch newbie...

was muss ich denn tun???

Don’t forget to type in /etc/rc.d/ mysql start in your command line if
your on Linux. Please note that you will have to set up a username and
password at a later time.

there are many other ways to do it as often many people get this error
with diferent reasons:
1) try this out: (only if the errror no. is error2002 or mysql.sock
(2)))
try killing the mysql process (which are still running in some cases
and are hidden somewhere even when mysql has died!!)
#killall mysql
or try mysqld
(if it kills the process then try doing this untill You get a message
like:
mysql:no more process to kill....
then try to restart the mysql service....
2) if this do not work try:
log in into shell and find the file .my.cnf (normally located in /root)
(root@root)#cat .my.cnf
take the password and loginto WHM or any other wehosting management
tool and find "mysql" category in that find "change mysql localhost
password"
option click on it and set the password and click change password...
do not worry the password is the same already, its just that this trick
causes the mysql to restart totally with the new password:
this should fix ur problem.....

oder kurz, das Programm kann sich nicht gegen MySql verbinden, weil der Socket nicht in /tmp ablegt ist - höchst wahrscheinlich weil mysqld gar nicht läuft oder die Einstellungen der mysql.conf eine andere Location für die Socketdatei vorschreibt.

Also:

rcmysql stop
rcmysql start

Hilft das?!
