USB-Stick will einfach nicht :-(

Hallo,

ich habe einen neuen Stick und bekomme das Teil einfach nicht zum laufen. Ein anderer Stick sowie meine Digicam und der Drucker funzen an dem Rechner.
Der Stick funzt auch unter Win. Nur unter Linux nicht.

was sagt denn "dmesg"? Von welcher Marke ist das Gerät und wie wird der Zugriff gesichert, mechanisch oder mit Passwort?

Auf dem Stick steht: USB 2.0 Flash Drive 128 MB
Er hat keinen Schalter für Schreibschutz oder ähnliches. Unter Win funzt der sofort nach dem Einstecken.

Ich hoffe, daß ich den Stick auch unter Linux zum laufen bekomme...

Ich habe noch einen 64 MB-Stick, der läuft ohne Probs (allerdings nur wenn er beim booten eingesteckt ist)

Also, die Geschichte mit den USB-Sticks scheint unter Suse 9.0/9.1/9.2 ein Buch mit sieben Siegeln zu sein. Wir machen hier gerade einen Kurs und benutzen Suse 9.1/9.2.
Fast alle haben Sticks von verschiedenen Herstellern. Mal funzt es, manchmal nicht. Ab-und-zu beim Booten mit eingestecktem Stick...
Was bisher auf jeder Kiste immer läuft, auch bei laufendem Betrieb rein/raus. Ist der Card-Reader vom Aldi (ca. 6.90 Euro oder so) mit eingesteckter SD Card). Das Teil funktioniert überall und immer.....

wenn beim dmesg der Stick eigesteckt war, sollte man das Teil hier sehen:

das mounten von Hand kann auch nicht funktionieren, weil der Stick ja vom Kernel nichtmal als Speicher erkannt wird.

... korrigiert mich wenn ich irre...

- rmmod ehci_hcd
- und den Stick wieder anstecken, jetzt sollte dieser gehen (halt nur Usb1.1)

falls es das ist, dann ist dein Usb auf dem Motherboard zwar i.O. aber nicht sauber nach den Usb2.0 Konfentionen.

- unter Win geht er warscheinlich auf der gleichen HW sauber, aber da kann man ja nicht in die Basteltreiber von MS schauen.
- der Stick sollte aber auf anderen Linuxrechnern mit Usb2.0 funktionieren.

falls das alles so zutrifft, schalte dss ehci_hcd Modul dauerhaft für deinen Kernel aus.
TIP: ist ein konfigurationsprobelem wie die Kernelmodule geladen werden, und triff bei Suse, Redhead, Mandrake... usw. auf) Wenn du eine Knoppix 3.7 hast boote mal live und steck den Stick an - der sollte sofort als Usb2.0 autogemountet werden und gehen, - Knopper sei dank!

Bei kerneln älter als 2.6.9 war es ein bekanntes problem, das man ärger mit USB 2.0 Geräten hatte. Ein KernelUpdate wirkt da wunder...

Nach deinem log zu urteilen, würd ich behaupten der ehci Treiber ist nicht als module geladen, sondern fest im Kernel, wirst wohl nicht drum herumkommen ein Update durchzuführen.

Ist eigentlich nicht so schlim, da du deinen alten kernel nicht zu löschen brauchst.

Kannst ja auch mal gucken, was SuSE als Online Update rausgibt. Würd aber sagen, unter 2.6.9 lohnt es sich nicht, da auch Probleme mit dem ehci Treiber ab diesem Release gelöst worden sind...
