SuSE DVD bootet nicht

Hallo zusammen.

Hmm, ist es nur Hard- oder Software? Ich versuchs einfach mal hier :-)
Ich habe das Problem dass SuSE-InstallationsDVDs seit der Version 10.0 bis einschliesslich der aktuellen 11.0 auf meinem Alten FSC-Notebook (E-Serie) nicht mehr booten.
Das bedeutet ich lege die DVD ein, starte den Rechner und die DVD wird einfach ignoriert als ob sie nicht bootfähig wäre. Die Bootsequenz ist richtig eingestellt und auch über das Bootmenue (mittels F12) funktioniert es nicht.
Alle anderen Linux- bzw. Windowsvarianten sowie ältere SuSE-Versionen funktionieren problemlos.
An der DVD scheint es auch nicht zu liegen da es sowohl mit gekauften (aus Zeitschriften) also auch mit selbstgebrannten DVDs nicht funktioniert. Ausserdem funkitonieren die gleichen DVDs auf anderen Rechnern.

Kann mir jemand helfen?

Moin,

das liegt an der Methode, wie SuSE die Boot-CD's baut.

Da hilft meist nur Netzwerkinstalltion.

also wenn es ein noch sehr altes dvd ist, dann kann es sein, das es mit dem lesen von dubblelayer scheiben nicht oder nur recht schlecht zurecht kommt.
das hatte ich auch mal. soweit ich weis, hat suse seit der version 9.3 oder 10.0 dubblelayer.
dafor waren es singlelayer.
ein neues aktuelles dvd laufwerk könnte da abhilfe schaffen.

Hallo und Danke erstmal an alle.

Also ein Firmwareupdate für das alte Ding werd ich wohl nicht mehr bekommen.
Ich tippe auch drauf dass es an der Herstellungsart der SuSE-DVDs liegt. werde es wohl bei Gelegenheit mal mit ner Netzinstallation versuchen (oder ich lasse doch das Ubuntu drauf).

An Doublelayer kann es eigentlich nicht liegen da die aktuelle SuSE 11 auf ne normale Singellayer passt (reichlich 4GB).
