wenn XF86 scheitert...dann?

Hallo!

Was tue ich wenn XF86 bei meiner Hardware scheitert?
Schon währen xf86config, werde ich darauf hingewiesen, dass mein Treiber nicht unterstützt wird.
Hab es dann mit anderen Modellen probiert.
Ergebnis:
Entweder ich bekomme ein Bild mit einer Auflösung von 320xirgendwas wovon ich allerdings nur eine Ecke erkennen kann,
oder ich bekomme überhaubt kein Bild mit der Meldung dass sich der Xserver gerade verabschiedet hat.

und nu?

Gibt es vielleicht alternativen zu XF86?

es gibt keine alternativen, aber es gibt x86free3 und die version 4, die jeweils unterschiedliche hardware unterstützen.

was hast du denn für eine grafikkarte?

Hi,

ich hatte auch mal son Prob: Auf meinem Steinzeit-15-Zoller konnte ich entweder nur ne Ecke sehn oder ich hab die Aufloesung so veraendert, dass in der Mitte des Monitors kanz klein das vollstaendige Bild zu sehen war.
Probier mal mit sax den Monitor manuell zu konfigurieren, wenn das, wie bei mir nicht klappt, gibts nur eine Loesung:

Ich hab mir damals fuer 180,- DM einen halbwegs vernuenftigen gebrauchten 17"er gekauft. Jetzt funzt's

wie Thomas schon sagte, versuchs mal mit xfree3.3.6. Manchmal hat Xfree4 Probleme mit zu alter Hardware.
