CD-Brenner unter Suse Linux 7.3

Hallo Leute,
ich hoffe Ihr könnt mir helfen.
Ich habe in einem Suse 7.3 Server einen Brenner von Traxdata (CDRW16 eingebaut.
Seit einiger Zeit kann er manchmal CD's nicht erkennen (keine!). Nach einem Neustart funktioniert es dann wieder.
Einige CD-RW's kann er auch nicht beschreiben. Ist der Brenner kaputt oder liegt das am Betriebssystem???

am Betriebssystem kann es eigentlich nicht liegen.
post mal die /var/log/boot.msg.

# cat /var/log/boot.msg | more

ist es ein ide brenner ?
ist alles im Bios richtig eingestellt?
hat der Brenner schon mal richtig funktioniert?

der brenner hat schon mal richtig funktioniert
hat die scsi-emulation vielleicht ne macke?

was sollte im bios falsch eingestellt sein?
ich komme erst donnerstag wieder an den pc, dann poste ich die log-datei
