Hallo,
ich probiere auf meiner Voodoo3 3000 + SuSE7.1 + KDE2.1 + Xfree4.03 + qt-2.2.3 (experimental) die geglätteten Fonts hinzukriegen, bisher ohne Erfolg. Syntom: Ich deinstallierte die "alte" qt 2.2.3, die keinen Support fur AA hatte. Dann installierte ich von der SuSE CD die "neue" Version der qt(experimental). Wenn ich dann kdm starte ( normal bei Neustart), so erscheint kdm nur ganz kurz, um dann der Konsole zu weichen
Wenn ich KDE2 direkt aus der Konsole starte (ohne Grafischen Login, der eh nicht geht), so sehe ich zwar das hintergrund Bild, jedoch will KDE2 nicht laden (ich sehe jedenfalls nichts davon, auch wenn die Festplatte so rattert, als hätte sie etwas zu tun)

Bitte helft mir, die AA-Fonts sehen zu schön aus !

PS: Selbes Ergebniss bei Xfree4.02, daran liegt es nicht

Da bisher keiner helfen kann, gebe ich euch noch den Output wenn ich startx in Runnlevel 3 (Konsole) eingebe. Hoffe das sagt jemand etwas, denn ich will wirklich AA !! (Ich habe X nach einiger Zeit gekillt, sonst wäre das wohl ewig weiter gegangen mit dem DCOP Zeug.

Hier ist wohl was bei der Installation von Qt oder KDE falsch gelaufen. Es gibt da übrigens eine QT.2.3.0! Das AA
funktioniert bei gewählten Fonts, die im Verzeichnis "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/truetype" abgelegt sind. Also müssen
im KDE andere Schriften ausgewählt werden: Truetype-Schriften, mit denen das funktioniert!

Hi,
nur ein Loesungsansatz, um Antialiasing benutzen zu koennen muss Xfree die ganze Sache auch unterstuetzen, d.h. XFREE muss mit Antialiasing-Unterstuetzung (ab 4.0 ?)komiliert sein. Das ist bei den zum Download zur Verfuegung stehenden Binaries normalerweise nicht der Fall.
Und bevor Du Dir Xfree selber baust muss auch noch Freetype >= 2.01 installiert werden (Ist bei den Xfree-Quellen dabei) und in den Makefiles von Xfree eingetragen werden. (wie genau steht in den Releasenotes der Xfree-quellen)
Habe ich gestern gemacht, das kompilieren hat bei mir (K6-2 300) c.a. 2h gebraucht. Heute steht sozusagen noch ne wilde Konfigurationsorgie an (Windowmanager etc, etc,).Vorsicht, wenn schon eine Xfree-Version existiert!
Hoffe es hilft erst mal weiter. Bin naemlich auch nicht so der grosse Durchblicker. Unter Umstaenden muss QT auch noch speziell mit Antialiasing-Unterstuetzung kompiliert werden (weiss ich aber nicht genau)

Freetype hat m.E. nichts mit Truetype-Schriften zu tun. Ich versteh überhaupt nicht, warum ihr das immer so kompliziert macht.
Wie schon oben beschrieben funktioniert das einwandfrei und man muss nicht so klimmzüge machen.

probiers vielleicht mal mit nen bisschen geduld, hört sich zwar scheiße an und eigentlich hab ich auch nicht so gecheckt worums geht aber ich meine wenn die Platte ratter muß sie ja was zu tun haben oder nicht

Problem Solved:
ich mußte z.B. von einer Win98 box noch die truetype fonts rüberkopieren, dann ging es, fals jemand dieselben Fehlermeldungen hat, und mit dieser Beschreibung nicht zurechtkommt, kann ich ihm mailen, wie genau.
