Warum kann ich nicht installieren?

Ich kann weder Suse, noch RedHat oder MAndrake installieren, wobei Mandrake durchläuft, dann anber bei LI kleben bleibt und ich auch durch Eingabe von LILO auf einer Konsole weiterkomme.
Was ist hier inkompatibel?

vermutlich liegt /boot oder / nicht auf der ersten Festplatte oder so?

OK, nun hab icgh die erste Platte dafür vorgesehen (liegt noch ME drauf) und er erzählt mir, dass die zu fragmentiert wäre und er dazu keine Lust hätte. Defrag drübergejagt (zuckel) und defragmentiert. Mandrake geschnappt, Reset und selbe Meldung... Watt nu?

Wer sagt, dass was zu deragmentiert sei? Entweder ist Platz auf der Platte ( freier unpartitionierter Raum ) oder der Platz muss geschaffen werden durch verkleinern oder löschen bestehender Partitionen. Ab SuSE7.1 lassen sich defragmentierte FAT(32) verkleinern per Schieberegler, um Platz für Linux-Partitionen zu schaffen. Der freie Plattenplatz kann dann für Linux benutzt werden. Die Aufteilung dazu sollte das Linux selber vornehmen, wenn man sich damit noch nicht auskennt.

Das ist ja der Hit, dass mich Mandrake auffordert meine Platte zu defragmentieren... Die Aufteilung würde ich gern Linux überlassen, aber das klappt nicht, da ich ja gar nicht bis dahin komme!
