weder Ipchains noch iptables läuft

hi,
also ich hab mir grad mal debian (netzwerkinstallation) auf meinen router gemacht und alles läuft bestens,
ABER
weder ipchains noch iptables läuft
uname -a sagt:

ipchains -L :

ipchains: Incompatible with this kernel

und iptables -L meint zu mir:

modprobe: Can't locate module ip_tables
iptables v1.2.6a: can't initialize iptables table `filter': iptables who? (do you need to insmod?)
Perhaps iptables or your kernel needs to be upgraded.

was mach ich falsch????

das letzte zuerst: ja, code kann man offenbar nur einmal verwenden. ein bug, der eines tages ein neues forum bescheren wird.

iptables musst du noch im kernel einkompilieren. docs dazu (kernel komplieren) gibt es zum totschmeissen, auch hier.
