hallo und ein frohes neues jahr,
bei meinem suse 10.0 werden eingelegte cds oder angeschlossenen memorysticks automatisch erkannt und gemauntet, jedoch anders als in /etc/fstab festgelegt, daraus schliesse ich, dass die informationen dafür in einer anderen datei auf meiner festplatte stehen, jedoch wo ???

Automount
Das mounten übernimmt das Hotplug-System bestehend aus udev / D-BUS / hal.
Die udev-Konfigurationsdateien liegen unter /etc/udev.d (.conf und Verzeichnis 'rules' oder so)
Die jeweilige Konfigurationsdatei findet man meist auch via RPM, z. B.:
rpm -ql udev|grep conf
rpm -ql udev|grep rules
rpm -ql hal|grep conf
rpm -ql dbus|grep conf
