zweiter TFT-Bildschirm am Laptop

Hallo Leute

Mein Kumpel hat ein HP Pavillion Laptop 17" .Allerdings zeigen sich jetzt bunte Linien auf dem TFT von oben nach unten des Bildschirms. Könnte sein, das sich der TFT des Laptops verabschiedet.Nun möchte mein Kumpel einen zweiten TFT extern am Laptop anschliessen.
Dafür gibt es am Laptop einen Anschluss. Jetzt aber will ich wissen, wie man es konfiguriert das der Laptop-eigene TFT daktiviert wird und nur der externe TFT aktiv ist
geht das überhaupt?

Oft kann man im BIOS einstellen, dass der VGA-Ausgang ein Klon-Bild des internen TFT darstellen soll. Die Hintergrundbeleuchtung lässt sich aber meist nicht getrennt vom Signal am VGA-Ausgang abschalten, so dass das interne Display grundsätzlich weiterleuchtet --> Aufmachen, Stromleitung zum CFL-Konverter kappen.

Ich versuche grad, ebenfalls am Laptop (IBM Thinkpad T22) einen TFT-Bildschirm zusätzlich zum Laptop-Display anzuschliessen, um über Xinerama einen grösseren Desktop zu haben.

In den Ubuntu-Howtos gibt es zwar eine Anleitung, aber irgendwie funktioniert das noch nicht so, wie es soll.

Beide Bildschirme zeigen zwar was an (entsprechend der Umschaltung über die Laptop-Funktionstasten), aber beide Bildschirme zeigen mir noch den selben Desktop an.

Hat jemand eine Idee, was ich noch versuchen könnte?
