Members of the RISC-V Foundation have access to and participate in the development of the RISC-V ISA specifications and related HW / SW ecosystem.

There are a number of ways to get involved in OpenPOWER Foundation.

Become a member and show your support participating in development and related activities. Depending upon your membership level, you can engage in work group activities, approve technical work product, work on various marketing initiatives, and more. See the Membership Levels page and Bylaws for OpenPOWER member level descriptors.

Quelle: OpenPOWER foundation - get involved

hi i apologise again for english, also for not seeing this article for some time.

Hugh Blemings, the Director of OpenPOWER Foundation, is a colleague from 20 years ago, and he is an extremely thoughtful person with a lot of experience in the benefits of open collaboration.

The members had been discussing how to include Libre projects for some months, and just towards the end of the process of designing a new POWER ISA EULA, i contact him. It was a nice but brief conversation, and was very positive and he was supportive of what we want to do.

It will take some time, there is a lot to do. The website remains a little outofdate for now, please do be patient and understanding.

The Individual membership level (non-voting), is in place for individual contributors unaffiliated with any particular company or organization. There are no fees associated with this membership.

for non-profit research labs and Universities(...)
for individual contributors unaffiliated with any particular company or organization(...)

hi again sorry for replying in english, and for not seeing this article for such a long time.

i have added contact information to the wiki (anyone can edit the page btw, so you were and are even free to put, on the page, "hello i do not see any contact details here!")

            which page would you suggest?

second, i responded with an explanation as to why joining as an individual will still never be sufficient, due to conflict of business interests.

third, we *have* had the funding approved, six out of eight of the projects submitted. two of them we withdrew as they are secondary objectives ("nice to have").

hi firstly i must apologise for replying in english, and secondly for not being aware for such a long time that this conversation took place.

firstly: this is a complex multi-faceted issue, and it is necessary to understand the unique business objectives and also Trademark Law. this came up again on the list so i described it here:
    http://lists.libre-riscv.org/pipermail/libre-riscv-dev/2020-January/003412.html

we are not a member, despite repeated offers to pay the $100 membership fees. the problem is that signing the agreement is effectively an NDA and silences us from speaking up.

in addition, the private lists which we would then have access to (not the google groups, the private closed and secretive member lists) are the only place where discussion of innovation takes place.

we are funded by NLNet. we received the money to develop the processor *transparently*.

how can we claim to be operating transparently if, in order to innovate, we have to engage in secretive conversations?

does this help you to understand where the problem lies?

it is a completely unique set of circumstances that was never predicted to occur, and all in-good-faith efforts to be included have been completely ignored.
