-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 ________________________________________________________________________ Mandrake Linux Security Update Advisory ________________________________________________________________________ Package name: mod_ssl Advisory ID: MDKSA-2002:072 Date: October 24th, 2002 Affected versions: 7.2, 8.0, 8.1, 8.2, 9.0, Single Network Firewall 7.2 ________________________________________________________________________ Problem Description: A cross-site scripting vulnerability was discovered in mod_ssl by Joe Orton. This only affects servers using a combination of wildcard DNS and "UseCanonicalName off" (which is not the default in Mandrake Linux). With this setting turned off, Apache will attempt to use the hostname:port that the client supplies, which is where the problem comes into play. With this setting turned on (the default), Apache constructs a self-referencing URL and will use ServerName and Port to form the canonical name. It is recommended that all users upgrade, regardless of the setting of the "UseCanonicalName" configuration option. ________________________________________________________________________ References: http://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CAN-2002-1157 ________________________________________________________________________ Updated Packages: Linux-Mandrake 7.2: b7acd8742d920495a4d028cfc4c98971 7.2/RPMS/mod_ssl-2.8.5-3.2mdk.i586.rpm 043560f85884427d8b21cce973c99722 7.2/SRPMS/mod_ssl-2.8.5-3.2mdk.src.rpm Mandrake Linux 8.0: 8bb506d3bc1b829958ece41a7dbca269 8.0/RPMS/mod_ssl-2.8.5-3.2mdk.i586.rpm 043560f85884427d8b21cce973c99722 8.0/SRPMS/mod_ssl-2.8.5-3.2mdk.src.rpm Mandrake Linux 8.0/ppc: 70180b3f3500da90d551cbb0efe7b769 ppc/8.0/RPMS/mod_ssl-2.8.5-3.2mdk.ppc.rpm 043560f85884427d8b21cce973c99722 ppc/8.0/SRPMS/mod_ssl-2.8.5-3.2mdk.src.rpm Mandrake Linux 8.1: 66213dc3f865d29040e8b216ceb4ce99 8.1/RPMS/mod_ssl-2.8.5-3.2mdk.i586.rpm 043560f85884427d8b21cce973c99722 8.1/SRPMS/mod_ssl-2.8.5-3.2mdk.src.rpm Mandrake Linux 8.1/ia64: 7241cf691ee6a6640f9a75d7b3cd70c3 ia64/8.1/RPMS/mod_ssl-2.8.5-3.2mdk.ia64.rpm 043560f85884427d8b21cce973c99722 ia64/8.1/SRPMS/mod_ssl-2.8.5-3.2mdk.src.rpm Mandrake Linux 8.2: f904c67014011798617ddf69c956cc00 8.2/RPMS/mod_ssl-2.8.7-3.2mdk.i586.rpm d7c2627494871c9a262dbfcd4bda5b17 8.2/SRPMS/mod_ssl-2.8.7-3.2mdk.src.rpm Mandrake Linux 8.2/ppc: 7cab5fc49669615c340d62ce5630d455 ppc/8.2/RPMS/mod_ssl-2.8.7-3.2mdk.ppc.rpm d7c2627494871c9a262dbfcd4bda5b17 ppc/8.2/SRPMS/mod_ssl-2.8.7-3.2mdk.src.rpm Mandrake Linux 9.0: 7a8593c0ad2bdb97a7fec587706784e3 9.0/RPMS/mod_ssl-2.8.10-5.1mdk.i586.rpm 1bcd222726d1b63d12d2df2ccbcd7393 9.0/SRPMS/mod_ssl-2.8.10-5.1mdk.src.rpm Single Network Firewall 7.2: 48a89b088b922ee2f8e3bd700ceec65f snf7.2/RPMS/mod_ssl-2.8.4-5.2mdk.i586.rpm f8d322882631409b8b42881b33bffe5d snf7.2/SRPMS/mod_ssl-2.8.4-5.2mdk.src.rpm ________________________________________________________________________ Bug IDs fixed (see https://qa.mandrakesoft.com for more information): ________________________________________________________________________ To upgrade automatically, use MandrakeUpdate.
