Background ========== acpid is a daemon for the Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI). Affected packages ================= ------------------------------------------------------------------- Package / Vulnerable / Unaffected ------------------------------------------------------------------- 1 sys-power/acpid < 1.0.10 >=3D 1.0.10 Description =========== The acpid daemon allows opening a large number of UNIX sockets without closing them, triggering an infinite loop. Impact ====== Remote attackers can cause a Denial of Service (CPU consumption and connectivity loss). Workaround ========== There is no known workaround at this time. Resolution ========== All acpid users should upgrade to the latest version: # emerge --sync # emerge --ask --oneshot --verbose ">=3Dsys-power/acpid-1.0.10" References ========== [ 1 ] CVE-2009-0798 http://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=3DCVE-2009-0798 Availability ============ This GLSA and any updates to it are available for viewing at the Gentoo Security Website: http://security.gentoo.org/glsa/glsa-200905-06.xml Concerns? ========= Security is a primary focus of Gentoo Linux and ensuring the confidentiality and security of our users machines is of utmost importance to us.
