Scherereien mit Nvidia Karte

Nachdem ich nun Tage lang herumgebastelt habe, komme ich nicht weiter. Ich bekomme den Treiber von Nvidia einfach nicht zum Laufen. Der Treiber ist 100.14.23, sollte der aktuellste sein. OS ist Opensuse 10.3, Kernel ist Linux 2.6.22.12-0.1-default. Die Hardware:
Motherboard: K9N Diamond A7226NMS V1.0 08/21/06, 1GB Ram
Prozessor: Athlon64 3000+
Die Karte ist eine PCI Express GeForce 7300 GS Version 05.72.22.60.68 mit 256MB. Wird manchmal als 512MB angezeigt, keine Ahnung warum.
Mit dem Treiber "nv" läuft alles stabil, nur 3D und Transparenz (von KDE) gehen nicht wirklich flott. Dann installiere ich den Nvidia-Treiber. In der xorg.conf von "nv" auf "nvidia" und Neustart. Ich kann mich anmelden und KDE läuft, aber nach 30 Sekunden oder 30 Minuten oder irgendwas dazwischen bleibt der Computer einfach stehen. Es lief auch schon mal zwei Stunden. Nichts funktioniert mehr, Sound bleibt stehen, es geht auch kein Ping von woanders mehr. Ich muss den Resetschalter nehmen. Nirgends finde ich etwas, in /var/log/messages steht nichts. Ich vermute, das System bleibt stehen bevor der Eintrag geschrieben wird.
So sieht meine xorg.conf mit dem Nvidia Treiber aus. Ich habe es auch mit AIGLX off usw. probiert, ändert nichts.

Hat jemand eine Ahnung, was ich ändern muss? Der Computer selbst ist in Ordnung und ich habe Memtest 86 einen ganzen Tag laufen lassen.
