Aus "A Response to the Featurewise Comparison of MySQL and PostgreSQL" (http://developer.postgresql.org/~petere/comparison.html):
- MySQL has internal support for fulltext search.
Full-text indexing solutions for PostgreSQL are readily available. One is included in the PostgreSQL distribution (contrib/fulltextindex), another is OpenFTS from the XWare Team. These solutions take advantage of PostgreSQL's extensibility features, so once installed they are indistinguishable from "internal support".
