Ubuntu Security Notice USN-3995-1
May 28, 2019

keepalived vulnerability
==========================================================================

A security issue affects these releases of Ubuntu and its derivatives:

- Ubuntu 18.10
- Ubuntu 18.04 LTS
- Ubuntu 16.04 LTS

Summary:

Keepalived could be made to crash or run programs if it received
specially crafted network traffic.

Software Description:
- keepalived: Failover and monitoring daemon for LVS clusters

Details:

It was discovered that Keepalived incorrectly handled certain HTTP status
response codes. A remote attacker could use this issue to cause Keepalived
to crash, resulting in a denial of service, or possibly execute arbitrary
code.

Update instructions:

The problem can be corrected by updating your system to the following
package versions:

Ubuntu 18.10:
keepalived 1:1.3.9-1ubuntu1.1

Ubuntu 18.04 LTS:
keepalived 1:1.3.9-1ubuntu0.18.04.2

Ubuntu 16.04 LTS:
keepalived 1:1.2.24-1ubuntu0.16.04.2

In general, a standard system update will make all the necessary changes.
